Yes. Switch to In Store mode while digging and each scan shows whether you already own the record, its Discogs demand and market price, and YouTube previews so you can listen before you buy — without committing anything to your collection.

CrateLog combines on-device signal extraction with a cloud machine-vision layer to read the center label — even on worn or partial labels. Candidate matches are scored against the Discogs catalog and shown with a confidence indicator, so you can review the result before adding it.

This Privacy Policy describes how CrateLog ("we", "us", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the CrateLog mobile application. By using CrateLog, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

CrateLog collects only the minimum information necessary to provide its features:

• Discogs Account Information — When you connect your Discogs account via OAuth, we receive your Discogs username and OAuth access tokens. We store your Discogs username and public user ID on our backend to identify your account and manage your entitlements. We do not receive or store your Discogs password.
• Camera Images — When you use barcode scanning or label identification, images captured by your device camera are processed to identify music releases. Images are transmitted securely to our backend service for processing.
• PDF Invoices — When you use the invoice import feature, text is extracted from uploaded PDF files and processed to match purchases to catalog entries.
• Subscription Purchase Tokens — When you subscribe to Collector Pro, a purchase token issued by Google Play or the Apple App Store is sent to our backend to verify your entitlement. We store the token, product identifier, and entitlement status. We do not receive or store credit card numbers, billing addresses, or any payment credentials.
• Diagnostic & Usage Data — To operate, secure, and improve the service, our backend keeps minimal request logs (such as app version, platform, timestamps, and a coarse action type like a single or batch scan) and aggregate counters (such as the number of scans performed). This is tied to your account identifier, is never sold or used for advertising, and is retained as described in Data Retention below. We use no third‑party analytics, advertising, or crash‑reporting SDKs.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Authentication — OAuth tokens are used to authenticate requests to the Discogs API on your behalf.
• Release Identification — Camera images and extracted text are sent to our secure backend on AWS, where the recognition request is processed through AWS Bedrock. Data sent for image recognition is used solely for the requested identification task.
• Collection Management — Your Discogs collection data is accessed directly through the Discogs API to provide browsing, searching, and management features.
• Collection Insights — The Insights tab sends a statistical summary of your collection (counts of genres, styles, labels, artists, countries, formats and release years, and when you added records) through our backend to AWS Bedrock, which writes the observations shown in the app. The summary contains no username, prices or photos, and is used solely to generate your insights.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

CrateLog uses the following third-party services:

• Discogs API — For catalog data and collection management. Subject to Discogs’ Privacy Policy.
• AWS (Amazon Web Services) — For our backend, billing services, image recognition, and collection insights. Subject to AWS Privacy Notice and AWS Service Terms.
• Google Play / Apple App Store — Subscription purchases are processed entirely by the respective platform. We do not receive or store payment information.

4. Data Storage & Security

• Authentication tokens are stored using secure platform mechanisms (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain) via encrypted storage.
• All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
• We do not store camera images or PDF content on our servers after processing is complete.
• Cached release metadata is stored locally on your device.

5. Data We Do NOT Collect

CrateLog does not collect:

• Location data
• Contact information
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Third‑party analytics, advertising, or crash‑reporting SDKs (e.g. ad networks or cross‑app trackers) — see Diagnostic & Usage Data above for the minimal operational logging we do keep
• Financial or payment information
• Email addresses or phone numbers

6. Data Retention

• Camera images and PDF text are processed in real-time and are not retained after the identification request is complete.
• OAuth tokens are stored locally until you disconnect your Discogs account or uninstall the app.
• Cached metadata is stored locally and can be cleared by clearing app data or uninstalling.
• Subscription entitlement data (purchase token, product ID, and status) is retained on our backend for the duration of your subscription. It is permanently deleted when you delete your account through the app.
• Diagnostic request logs are automatically purged on a rolling retention schedule. Aggregate usage counters tied to your account are deleted when you delete your account (apart from the one‑way hashed fraud-prevention record described below).
• Fraud-prevention record: when you delete your account, we retain a one-way hashed identifier (HMAC of your Discogs user ID with a server-side secret), your free-scan usage counter, and the list of any promo codes redeemed by the deleted account. This record contains no personal information — no username, no Discogs ID in plaintext, no authentication tokens — and cannot be used to re-identify you. It exists solely to prevent abuse of the free-tier limit by repeated account deletion and re-creation.

7. Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your data at any time. See our Data Deletion section below for instructions.

8. Children's Privacy

CrateLog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

10. AI-Generated Content

Some features — such as the observations on the Insights tab — use AI to generate content. AI-generated content is algorithmically curated and may occasionally be inaccurate. It is provided for entertainment purposes only and should not be relied upon as factual.

By downloading, installing, or using CrateLog, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Description of Service

CrateLog is a mobile application for scanning and cataloging records (vinyl, CD, and more). It provides barcode scanning, release identification, and integration with the Discogs platform for collection management.

2. Account & Authentication

Certain features require connecting your Discogs account via OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Discogs account credentials. CrateLog does not store your Discogs password.

3. Subscriptions & Purchases

• Some features may require a paid subscription.
• Subscriptions are processed and managed through Google Play or the Apple App Store.
• Billing, renewal, and cancellation are governed by the policies of the respective platform.
• We do not process payments directly.

Refunds. Because we do not process payments, refunds are handled by the store you purchased through — Google Play or the Apple App Store — under that store’s refund policy and time limits. Please raise refund requests with them first. If a store declines and you believe the charge was our error, contact support@cratelog.app and we will review it. This does not affect any statutory rights you have as a consumer.

4. Scan Credits & Fair Use

• Some features are metered in scans. Free allowances, subscription entitlements, and purchased scan credits are described in the app at the point of purchase.
• Purchased scan credits do not expire. They are tied to your account, are not transferable, and have no cash value except as set out in section 8.
• We apply reasonable limits to protect the service against automated, bulk, or abnormal use. These are not expected to affect normal personal cataloguing.
• We may suspend or limit access where use appears automated, abusive, or designed to circumvent quotas or credits. Where we do so and you hold unused purchased credits, section 8 applies.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app
• Abuse the Discogs API through the app beyond normal usage
• Access the app’s backend services other than through the app itself, or modify the app to alter the requests it sends
• Distribute, resell, or sublicense the app or its features

6. Third-Party Services

CrateLog integrates with third-party services (Discogs and AWS). Your use of these services through the app is also subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. CrateLog is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discogs or Amazon.

These services are outside our control. If a third party changes, restricts, prices, or withdraws access, features that depend on it may change or become unavailable. Sections 7 and 8 govern what happens then.

7. Service Availability & Changes

• We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time, and may set, change, or enforce technical and usage limits.
• The technology and methods behind release identification may change over time, and results may vary as a result. We do not guarantee any particular level of accuracy — results are suggestions for you to confirm, not statements of fact.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, third-party outages, and faults may interrupt the service.
• Where a change materially reduces a paid feature you are currently paying for, you may cancel your subscription through your store at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period.

8. Discontinuation of the Service

CrateLog is operated by a small independent developer and depends on third-party services we do not control. We may discontinue the app or any part of it. If we discontinue the service entirely:

• We will give at least 60 days’ notice where we reasonably can, as a notice inside the app and on this page. We do not hold your email address, so we cannot contact you directly — if you are unsure whether CrateLog is still running, this page is the place to check.
• We will stop selling subscriptions and scan credits from the date of the notice.
• Purchased scan credits remain usable throughout the notice period.
• After the notice period, we will refund unused purchased scan credits on request, calculated pro rata against the credits included in your purchase. Email support@cratelog.app within 90 days of the service ending. Depending on how long ago you purchased, a refund may need to be processed by the store rather than by us.
• Active subscriptions will not be renewed. You should still cancel any subscription in your store settings to be certain no further charge is taken.

Your collection is not held by us. Your record collection lives in your Discogs account and remains yours and accessible there independently of CrateLog. Data stored only on your device, such as shelf layouts, is removed if you uninstall the app.

9. Intellectual Property

CrateLog and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by the developer and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Discogs® is a registered trademark of Zink Media, LLC.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

CrateLog is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee the accuracy of identification results, catalog data, the availability of the service, or the availability of third-party services.

Some features use AI to generate content (for example, the observations on the Insights tab). AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate and is provided for entertainment purposes only. It should not be relied upon as factual.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or right that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you as a consumer.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the app.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

12. Governing Law

CrateLog is operated by OÜ ACD ENTERTAINMENT, a company registered in Estonia (registry code 12067736). These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia, and the courts of Estonia have jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident in the European Union you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer-law provisions of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.

EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will give notice in the app where we reasonably can. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

In compliance with Google Play and Apple App Store requirements, you can request deletion of your data at any time.

How to Delete Your Data

Option 1: In-App (Recommended)

• Open CrateLog and tap the gear icon in the header to open Settings.
• Under Account, tap Delete Account & Data to permanently delete your server-side session, entitlements, subscription data, and all data associated with your account.
• If you have an active subscription, cancel it first in your device’s subscription settings (Google Play or App Store) to stop future charges.
• Optionally, uninstall the app to remove all remaining locally stored data (preferences, cached metadata).

Option 2: Disconnect Only

• Tap Disconnect in the header to remove authentication tokens and cached collection data from your device without deleting server-side data.

Option 3: Email Request

To request deletion of any data that may exist on our servers, send an email to support@cratelog.app with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Include your Discogs username so we can locate any associated data. We will process your request within 30 days and confirm deletion by email.

What Gets Deleted

• Authentication tokens — Removed from your device (in-app disconnect) and invalidated on our backend.
• Session data — Any server-side session associated with your account is permanently deleted.
• Subscription & entitlement data — Purchase tokens, product identifiers, and entitlement status stored on our backend are permanently deleted. Note: deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active Play Store or App Store subscription; you must cancel it separately.
• Cached metadata — Removed when you clear app data or uninstall.

What We Do NOT Store

Camera images, PDF invoice content, and identification results are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers after processing. There is no persistent image or document data to delete.

Fraud-Prevention Record

To prevent abuse of the free-scan tier by repeated account deletion and re-creation, when you delete your account we retain a single anonymized record containing only:

• A one-way HMAC hash of your Discogs user ID, computed with a server-side secret. The hash is irreversible and cannot be linked back to you without that secret.
• Your free-scan usage counter at the time of deletion.
• The set of promo codes (if any) redeemed by the deleted account.
• The deletion timestamp.

This record contains no personal information — no username, no Discogs ID in plaintext, no authentication tokens, no email, no IP address. It cannot be used to re-identify you. It exists solely to enforce free-tier usage limits across account deletions and re-creations.
